Emporda is the wild and beautiful region of Spain running south of the middle Pyrenees towards the Mediterranean
Its dry wind-lashed terrain is the perfect place to grow vines without the need for inorganic pest-control - temperatures are generally warm throughout the vine growing season and
anyway what else are you going to grow?
Many small wineries lavish love and attention on these vines and the outcome is a range of delectable red and white wines of much better value than more well-known regions.
Of course, the wine buff Ernest Balthazar Moncrieff is well aware of the delights of Emporda wine and is eager to show off his knowledge to the lovely Lucy Bellwether.
And also to Sergeant Benskin but dammit the man already seems aware of Emporda!
