Lucy Bellwether is the gorgeous blue-eyed curator of the Lyle Gallery in East London.
When an insignificant lithograph by Ettore de Grazia is stolen she is intrigued by her resulting meeting with the
contradictory persona of Inspector Moncrieff of the Serious Freud Office.
At first the pair seem incompatible - Moncrieff, while unconventional in his policing methods, clings to an antiquated
view of Lucy's domicile in a Greenwich penthouse south of the river.
